I love my Alexa. I purchased it with my own money. She is my new Personal Assitant. I have been wanting her for years. This is a product I should have purchased years ago. My husband is in love too.I received the color black and the 5.5” smart display. It is large enough to see from across the room. She can also hear me when I am not close to the display. She has been so entertaining. I also have Samuel Jackson app that I purchase and love him too. I can ask her/Samuel anything. It is so easy to set up. I also have the plugs, and Echo Dots for my kitchen and master room. I purchased 3 plugs and the stands for the display and echo dots. What is so neat they are all link together when I receive them. Which makes the set up so easy.Thank you, . Everyone talks about the commercials. I think they come infrequently and they are not bothersome to me. In fact, I like them. After I set up the display, then I receive the Echo Dots they were even easier to set up. Alexa can and does control my whole home. I have ADT security and it pairs with it and can deactivate the system before I enter my home. Alexa has been a game-changer. She is a pure entertainer with news, exercise tutorials, movies, and so much more. It is also an intercom throughout my home. I can also play the same entertainment on all my Echo dots and the Smart Display. It is just beautiful music all through the house and more. It even sets up and pairs with Facebook to get my pictures and cycle through all of them and that is Amazing. If you are worried about your privacy, All you have to do is turn off the microphone and camera. Each day I learn something new about what Alexa can do. Again I am going to say I should have purchased her years ago.I will be purchasing a lot more products that work with her. Best purchase in a long time. Love it!
I got the Echo Show 5 for free when I bought a Ring Stick Up Camera. I figured I'd put the Echo Show 5 in my den ... and am pleased with its size and performance. I am a huge fan of the Echo Show products. I have two Echo Show 8s in my home so I was quite familiar with all the things and Echo Show can do before I set up the Echo Show 5. If you are curious about my thoughts on the capabilities and benefits of an Echo Show please refer to my review of the Echo Show 8. In this review I will focus on the aesthetics of the Echo Show 5.The Echo Show 5 has a small footprint. As can be seen from the attached photo it is about the size of my pencil sharpener (check out my review of the Bostitch Electric Pencil Sharpener). The picture quality is sharp and clear ... seemingly as good as my Echo Show 8. Alexa responsiveness is flawless. Sound quality is very good ... not quite the tonal range of my Echo Show 8, but certainly acceptable. I thought the smaller screen size would make text hard to read ... however, that has not been the case. The Echo Show 5 is a great device ... and I highly recommend it. Five stars.
I purchased the echo show 5 so I could view my ring doorbell and floodlight cameras without having to use my cell phone. It works perfectly for this reason. When I ask Alexa to show me either garage camera (floodlight) or backdoor camera (ring 2 doorbell) it responds within 5-10 seconds. I get the camera feed(s) for at least 10 miniutes (haven't really timed it). I can watch my dog when she goes out and even talk to her (freaked her out at first but now she's used to me being invisible). At this point, I get only 'live views' and not any recordings or this is possible but I just don't know how to request a past event. The ES5 allows the microphone to be activated on both the ring doorbell and floodlight, but I can't turn on the floodlight or the siren (features available in the ring phone app) but I'm sure these software features can be added at a later date. The camera views are surprisingly sharp and clear even at night. The sound is amazing as I can even hear birds singing or crickets chirping! At night, I use the echo show 5 for an alarm clock (it's about the same size). There's a setting that allows the display to be dimmed at night but the normal display really doesn't bother me at night. I replaced a dot with the echo show 5 and basically use it the same way except for the ring video views. I've had no wifi connection problems but I upgraded my router and added a wifi extender when I got the ring devices. Highly recommend the echo show 5 to use with Ring security cameras.
Love this. Speaker is awesome. Great quality. All the skills are so fun to use. Such a convenient product better yet, Amazing product. Works very well in my home as I use it to watch or hear the kids when I drop in to different devices around the house. I have it linked to baby monitors and echo dot, and also another echo show downstairs in the kitchen. I can even use it to follow YouTube recipes, listen to music etc. I also have a ring doorbell camera so this device shows me the front door and alerts me with doorbell chimes. I can communicate with people outside and in my home and view security cameras. Just amazing. There’s just unlimited possibilities with this device. I am so happy to have these!
I got this on a BOGO so I can video chat with my parents (who I really hope can get this set up lol), who I haven't seen since just before we went into SAH orders. It's not my first Echo device, but I'm enjoying it. I set this in our living room, which then prompted me to move around a few other devices to accommodate the move. Anyway, it could not have been easier to set up, I've got in on an end table to really utilize the screen. The sound is really nice. It's not Bose quality, but better than my 1st Gen echo, and equal to if not better than our 3rd Gen Dots. It seems to have more options than the large Echo Show, which I still haven't ruled out purchasing either, or an additional one of these for my bedside table. Since it's my first Echo with a display I've watched a few videos online to get acquainted with it. I like that I can control most of it from the device itself and don't really need the app, which I know will be nice for my parents who don't own flagship level smartphones. I'm glad I also ordered the stand for it, as it makes it easy to adjust the angle and it looks nice on the table with it. I know some have lamented the size of the display, but it's really not that bad. I have an iPhone 11 and the display size isn't that far off. I'm still getting to know the device, but it's been a fun few hours and I don't regret it at all.
